Date: 2011
Dimensions: 5ft x 5ft 5in
Medium: Unprimed canvas stitched with cotton thread and cornrowed
Description: Geometric abstraction is used as a tool to speak of the Triangle Trade Route or Transatlantic Slave trade route. The route is marked in a concentric cornrowed line from Africa to the Americas to Europe and results in a knot in the middle. The hairstyling techniques are a synecdoche for forcibly migrated people.
