Description: Unraveled Persistence is one of a series of works in which I undo the Confederate Battle flag. After the Charleston Massacre in 2015 Confederate Battle Flags were effectively removed from shelves of major stores. But, they are back again. Unraveled Persistence is a nylon flag, like the one Bree Newsome removed. Nylon flags are popular because they can withstand outdoor weather conditions and can be cheaply manufactured. Because of how they are printed, when the weft threads of the cloth are removed, that is to say, when the cloth is unraveled, the image of the flag persists.
